What Soft Washing Is and Why DFW Homes Need It
Soft washing is a low-pressure cleaning method (typically under 500 PSI at the surface) that uses biodegradable cleaning solutions to remove biological growth, algae, mildew, and organic staining chemically rather than mechanically. The cleaning solution is applied to the surface at low pressure, allowed to dwell and kill biological organisms, then rinsed away at low pressure — taking the killed growth with it.
Soft washing is the correct method for surfaces that would be damaged by high-pressure washing: DFW's ubiquitous brick construction (mortar joints are vulnerable to high-pressure erosion); limestone facades and hardscape (acid-sensitive and structurally fragile under pressure); stucco (the finish coat is thin and delamination-prone under high pressure); and wood or Hardiplank siding (high pressure drives water into seams and damages wood grain). The wrong pressure setting on any of these surfaces causes damage that looks like 'weathering' but is actually professional cleaning damage.
When Blues Home Services Uses Soft Washing in DFW
Blues Home Services selects cleaning method based on surface type and soiling: soft washing for brick, limestone, stucco, and wood; and appropriate-pressure pressure washing for concrete, asphalt, and metal surfaces. We never apply concrete-rated pressure to masonry surfaces that require soft washing.
For DFW homeowners whose brick or stone exterior shows green or black biological growth — especially on north-facing and shaded elevations — soft washing delivers complete biological growth removal without surface damage. Results typically last 2–3 years before regrowth occurs. Call (214) 307-2127 for a free DFW soft washing assessment.
