Why DFW Outdoor Cushions Develop Mildew

Oxygen bleach is safe for color-fast outdoor fabrics and effective at killing mildew without the discoloration risk of chlorine bleach.
For cushions with foam core mildew — identifiable by persistent musty odor even after surface cleaning — hot-water extraction is the only method that addresses the interior effectively. Extraction cleaning applies cleaning solution under pressure into the foam core and extracts it along with mildew material, treating the full depth of the cushion rather than just the surface.
In DFW's climate, cushions treated with hot-water extraction typically dry within 2-4 hours during summer (warm air, adequate airflow) and 4-8 hours in spring/fall. This is dramatically faster than traditional wet cleaning that leaves cushions wet for 24-72 hours.

Store cushions indoors during multi-day rain events and during extended periods when furniture won't be used.
