Why Pet Screens Need Different Care
Pet-resistant screens use a heavier-gauge, tightly woven vinyl-coated polyester mesh designed to resist tearing. That reinforced weave is excellent for durability but tends to trap North Texas pollen, dust, and pet hair more aggressively than lighter standard mesh, especially near doggy doors and low windows with heavy pet traffic.
Homes with pet screens on frequently-used doors and windows often see visibly dirtier screens than the rest of the home within just a few weeks, especially during spring pollen season.
Professional Pet Screen Cleaning
Pet screens require thorough cleaning solution penetration to lift embedded pollen, dust, and dander from the reinforced weave without damaging the coating that gives the mesh its tear resistance. Standard light dusting is rarely sufficient for pet screens seeing daily use.
Blues Home Services cleans pet screens as part of our standard window and screen service. For high-traffic pet doors and windows, we recommend cleaning every 6–8 weeks. Call (214) 307-2127 to schedule.
