Why Brick and Stone Are Different
High-pressure washing on brick, mortar, and natural stone can damage surfaces that took decades to develop their patina. The mortar between brick courses is particularly vulnerable — high pressure erodes the joints, accelerating deterioration and eventually compromising the wall's weather resistance.
The correct approach for DFW brick homes is soft washing: a low-pressure application of biodegradable cleaning solutions that loosen grime, algae, and biological growth chemically rather than mechanically. The solution dwells on the surface, then is rinsed away at low pressure — cleaning thoroughly without any surface damage.
What We Use on DFW Brick
Blues Home Services uses surface-calibrated pressure settings for every material we clean in the DFW area. For standard brick: 400–800 PSI at the surface with appropriate tip size and standoff distance. For aged brick, historic materials, or mortar that shows any sign of deterioration: soft washing only, with pH-neutral chemistry.
Limestone and natural stone require even more care — these materials are acid-sensitive and can be permanently etched by alkaline cleaners. We test every surface before applying chemistry to ensure the safest and most effective result.
