Linear Footage of Tile
The primary cost driver is the total linear footage of tile around your pool's waterline. Larger pools, freeform shapes with more perimeter, and pools with raised spas or water features that add tile length all increase the scope of the job accordingly.
Severity of Buildup
Light surface film requires less time and product than years of thick, layered scale. Pools that have never had professional descaling typically cost more for the first visit than pools on a regular 12–24 month maintenance cycle, since heavier buildup takes longer to fully clear.
Tile Material and Access
Glass tile and natural stone require more careful, slower application than standard ceramic, which can affect labor time. Pools with difficult access — elevated spas, narrow side yards, or extensive water features — may also factor into final pricing.
